Five pillars · One community

The work we do, and why it matters.

We're a multi-pillar Cook Island community entity. Each pillar serves our kopu tangata in a different way — and together, they create something no single programme can.

Tamariki learning through baking

Education & Learning

28 years of licensed, registered ECE. A punanga reo — a language nest — where the Penrhyn (Tongareva) Mangarongaro dialect and English are spoken equally. Learning is hands-on, culturally embedded, and child-led.

40 tamariki capacity. 50/50 bilingual delivery. Teachers who know every family and whakapapa.

Culture & Language Revitalisation

One of the only places in the world where the Penrhyn (Tongareva) Mangarongaro dialect is spoken daily — the daily language of tamariki aged 10 months to 5 years, alongside English. Culture isn't an event here — it's the environment.

Our Mini Museum houses a permanent collection of Cook Island artifacts contributed by families over decades. A living archive honouring our founders and elders.

Community wellbeing

Kopu Tangata & Community Wellbeing

More than an ECE — a natural community hub. Parents stay, grandparents visit, the extended family is part of the fabric. We're developing this into a structured programme:

Parenting support, intergenerational connection, family navigation services, and community gathering. Partners who come on board now will be foundational.

Moetetau Temanu at Akaiti Mangarongaro

Workforce Development

A training ground for Pacific and Māori ECE teachers. We support staff through registration, professional development, and bilingual capability building.

$7,150 invested in PD in FY2025. Moetetau Temanu's full teacher registration in 2026 proves bilingual teaching talent can be grown from within.

Place & Cultural Heritage

1/29 Wickman Way is where the dialects live, the artifacts are held, and the founders are honoured. We plan to extend the building, add a school van, upgrade learning environments, and formalise our heritage space.

This is not maintenance — it's a community growth investment for the next generation of Cook Island kopu tangata.
